150 grams butter (melted)
225 grams sugar
1 teaspoon almond essence
225 grams flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
350 grams sliced apple
Mix melted butter, eggs, sugar and almond essence and beat well.
Stir in flour and baking powder.
Spread two thirds of the mixture into a paper lined baking tin.
Arrange thin apple slices over the mixture and top with remaining mixture.
Bake 180 °C for 1½ hours.
(Dust with icing sugar and serve with freshly whipped cream)
