Being Heidi: Zopf Swiss Plaited Bread

by Lorraine Elliott – notquitenigella.com

“I stayed at an amazing place called Kamahi Cottage where the hostess of the lodge Swiss-born Elisabeth Cowan baked us a delicious Zopf or plaited Swiss bread for breakfast. As soon as I tried it I knew that this was the bread that Johanna Spyri wrote about-it was soft, eggy and milky and absolutely worth pinching a la Heidi! As soon as I sank my teeth in I knew that this was pure Heidi bread!”

Coming Home to Kamahi

by Amelia Norman

“If Kamahi Cottage were my home, I doubt I would ever have left. The cottage is New Zealand’s only five‐star farm stay and was built with the express purpose of enveloping exclusive guests in utmost comfort amongst the serenity of the King Country farmland…”

Otorohanga – New Zealand’s Kiwiana capital

by Laurel Watson – In My Kitchen

“The cottage is completely self-contained, offering all the lovely accoutrement that five stars suggest, with the added bonus of an amazing rural setting on the 450-hectare sheep and beef farm. I woke up to my seven-year-old exclaiming, “Mum! Look how beautiful it is outside. We even have our own sheep!” This is a little touch of Kiwi paradise and we found we were welcomed and made to feel relaxed the moment we arrived.”

Waitomo? I’ll Tell You Why….

With only a couple of days to spare to get out of Auckland City and experience something different Thomas Jones hired a car and ventured south to see the real New Zealand. He found a land of rolling green hills, native forests, great local food and wine, a bucketful of adrenaline and a healthy dose of good old Kiwi hospitality.
